Producer Information
Domaine Bernard et Thierry Glantenay is located in the Burgundy wine region. Above all, it's a family story that has lasted for over four centuries. In 2005, Thierry Glantenay returned to support his brother Bernard. They manage the domaine with the greatest respect for family traditions. Bernard and Thierry Glantenay practice integrated viticulture. They use as few chemicals as possible to preserve the quality of the vines. Harvesting is done by hand, to avoid damaging the grapes. The aim is to produce healthy grapes and an exceptional red Burgundy wine. Domaine Bernard et Thierry Glantenay is located in Volnay, Burgundy, 5 kilometers southwest of Beaune, where the 7.5-hectare vineyard also extends into Pommard and Puligny-Montrachet in the Côte-d'Or. The Volnay appellation lies on limestone and clay soil. The vines of Domaine Bernard et Thierry Glantenay benefit from a temperate, continental climate. Frosts are rare in autumn, enabling the harvest to be carried out late, when the grapes are fully ripe. Volnay appellation wines are red wines made from Pinot Noir grapes. Three Volnay and two Pommard appell ations from Domaine Bernard et Thierry Glantenay are Premiers Crus. This red wine is renowned for its finesse and lightness. Volnay reds are often described as the most feminine wines in Burgundy winegrowing. These Côte de Beaune reds can be cellared for several years before drinking. Bernard and Thierry Glantenay also produce a Premier Cru white wine in the Puligny-Montrachet appellation. This white Burgundy wine is made exclusively from Chardonnay.
