The albariño grape is the speciality of Northern Spain. Over the border in Portugal it's known as alvarinho. Though some might make a case for Picpoul de Pinet, or Muscadet from France, there's probably no better wine with seafood than albariño. This example from Bodegas Laureatus has all the zippy citrus and stone fruit you could want but it's supported by a creamy texture, which has been accentuated by a little time in the bottle.

The winery is located in the heart of the Salnés Valley, a region or subzone belonging to the Rías Baixas Denomination of Origin. Our philosophy is summed up in the expression “ from Vine to Cup ”. At Laureatus we are our own viticulturists as well as winemakers, which allows us, among other things, to control the vines in their development, make decisions about their growth, planting, etc. In short, having all the control , freedom and responsibility that implies not depending on external providers. We prioritize quality over quantity , and what is authentic and transparent over artifice, always “ from Vine to Cup ”.
