Simon began by studying law and then it was his first harvest in 1948 that convinced him to change path and found the estate. Joined in 1950 by his wife Antoinette, they focused on developing the family business and the values ​​that drove them: moving from the choice of grape varieties to the planting of the vines to the marketing of the wines, reducing yields, limiting the watering the soil by drip, providing continuing education and undertaking study trips around the world. So many positions which seemed far-fetched at the time, but which largely contributed to the success of the operation. With eighteen other viticulture enthusiasts in Valais, Simon Maye founded the Confrérie St-Théodule with a rigorous quality charter, to which they all took an oath. The first twenty years were very hard, but an ideal animated them. These winegrowers will have left their mark on Valais viticulture through the high quality of the wines.
