      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2021 Malbec offers varietal and regional typicity at a very affordable price. There are violets, berries and a touch of sweet spices with a juicy and round palate with almost unnoticeable tannins.
      • James Suckling: Notes of blackberries, dark cherries, blackcurrants and baking spices. Medium body with creamy tannins. Round and juicy with lots of fruit and a ripe, chocolatey finish.

      Producer Information

Alamos is an Argentine wine producer, located in the Mendoza wine region. It is one of the Catena family's four leading wine labels and produces a small collection of wines from Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Bonarda and Syrah. Historically the Catena family played an important role in the resurrection of Malbec in Argentina, leading to the family's status as one of the largest and most successful wine producers in the country. Consequently, Malbec has become the flagship wine under the Alamos Selección title. It is sourced from the best vineyards within the company's holdings and spends 16 to 18 months barrel-aging in French and American oak prior to release. The grapes are primarily sourced from Catena family estate vineyards in Luján de Cuyo and Valle de Uco, with others sourced from local growers. The locations of these vineyards in the foothills of the Argentinian Andes lead to unique growing environments where high altitude and rocky, sandy soils combine to produce quality viticulture. The Luján de Cuyo vineyard reaches up to 3500 feet (1060 meters) above sea level, whereas the grapes at the Valle de Uco vineyard are grown at even greater altitudes reaching 5000ft (1500m).
