      Detailed Description

It presents itself with great elegance and charm with precise aromas, imposing but very fine tannins and great length.

        Producer Information

Yvon Métras is a well-regarded minimal intervention winemaking pioneer based in Grille-Midi, Fleurie, in the Beaujolais region of eastern France. Métras produces a range of predominantly Gamay-based red wines. Métras is often aligned with the so-called "Gang of Four" natural or minimal-intervention winemakers Guy Breton, Jean Foillard, Marcel Lapierre and Jean-Paul Thévenet. All, including Métras, adopted the winemaking teachings of consultant Jules Chauvet (and his disciple, the winemaking consultant Jacques Néauport). Chauvet's pre-industrial approach to winemaking eschewed most modern winemaking techniques and, while hard to pin down across all producers, Métras and the Gang of Four generally make wines with little to no additions and no filtering. Métras himself produces two main Beaujolais cru wines (a Fleurie and a Moulin-a-Vent) as well as a number of standard Beaujolais labels. His holdings in the region are understood to be relatively small (reportedly around 10 hectares, or 25 acres) and production is limited.
