Barrell Dovetail Whiskey

Their Whiskey-Rum specialization comes to life in Barrell Dovetail, a helluva blend of two Whiskeys: a 10YO Whiskey distilled in Indiana and finished in Dunn Vineyards Cabernet casks; and a 11YO Bourbon made in Tennessee with a double finish in black strap Rum barrels and LBV Port Pipes. It's obviously a flamboyant blend - and strong, too! It comes at 122.9 Proof cask-strength with a rich and smooth flavor profile. It's an imaginative experiment gone absolutely right, giving us one of the most impressive and unique blend at the moment.

Barrell Dovetail Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Sweet aromas of molasses and raisins with a hint of anise, and a touch of heat.

Palate: Molasses translate beautifully to the palate, accompanied by notes of cane sugar, dark cherries and a hint of barrel char.

Finish: Peppery spice and heat are followed by dark fruit. Long and warming finish with a lovely aftertaste.

Distillery Information

Founded in 2014, Barrell Craft Spirits scoops up extra casks of premium Bourbon and Rye and bottles ‘em up at full strength. Each batch is completely different. Sometimes the coolest casks on the market are Tennessee-style Whiskeys, sometimes they’re Kentucky Bourbon. The good stuff could be straight, or it could be a finished wood. The point is that they find the best odd lots and “left-overs” that would more likely be tossed into a generic blend and sell it to us in all of their glory.
