Straight rye whiskey here from the Bower Hill range, which takes its name from the location of the first bloodshed of the 1794 Whiskey Rebellion - the Battle of Bower Hill. Bower Hill Reserve Rye is a limited edition, small batch straight rye whiskey. It has a mash bill of 51% rye and 49% malted barley, and is bottled at 86 proof, 43% ABV. Little information is given as to provenance of whiskey.
Bower Hill Reserve Rye Whiskey Tasting Notes
Nose: Toasted rye warmth, with layers of brown sugar and dried orange peel.
Palate: New oak, fresh apricot, spiced rum and mint.
Finish: More mint, followed by a helping of cinnamon sticks.
Distillery Information
Bower Hill is one of many small, non-distilling producers that have been showing up on the whiskey shelves with greater frequency lately. But unlike most NDPs, this isn’t the typical MGP juice. Their four different bourbons are all sourced from an unnamed Kentucky distillery.
