Cask Edit - Elements of Islay | 700ML

Part of the Elements of Islay series from Speciality Drinks, Cask Edit joins the collection as an ongoing release. Islay blended malt Scotch whisky is matured in a combo of ex-bourbon and ex-sherry casks, imparting enticing layers of fruit and nuts, buttery pastry, and roasted coffee to the softly smoky malt at the core.

Cask Edit - Elements of Islay | 700ML Tasting Notes

Nose: Charred oak and candied nuts, with heaps of fresh orchard fruits, are followed by soft praline and creamy vanilla. Delicate peat smoke floats seamlessly throughout.

Palate: Woody caramel opens the way for fresh almond croissants and robust roasted coffee beans. A dusting of pebbly petrichor mingles with earthen vanilla and distant bonfire smoke.

Finish: Things remain fresh and fruity towards the end, with elegant smoke and sweet spice lingering.

Distillery Information

Created in 2008 by London’s Elixir Distillers, Elements of Islay aims to celebrate the best of Islay whisky, the most important of which, they say, is peat! These independent bottlings boast laboratory-style bottles adorned with periodic table inspired labelling, where each distillery has its own element symbol. This pays homage to the ‘elemental’ character possessed by Islay malt whiskies. The bottle used is even called a ‘pharmacy’, though apparently that was completely coincidental.
