Detailed Description

A coastal and peaty single malt, the flagship expression from Clynelish boasts a fabulous flavour profile filled with its distinctive waxy notes. Clynelish is the successor to Brora which closed in 1983, which it is built opposite. A well rounded Highlander, though this expression is a bit less peaty than the Brora bottlings of yore.

Clynelish 14 Year Old Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes

Nose: Zesty, mandarin, tangerine. Smoky.

Palate: Quite light, great clarity. Orange, soft acidity. Dry oak. Mixed fruits, vanilla, leather.

Finish: Quite long, bitter sweetness developing, spicy oak.

Distillery Information

The original Clynelish distillery was founded in the village of Brora in 1819 by the Marquess of Stafford, notorious for his role in the Highland Clearances. It was subsequently rebuilt on a new site across the road in 1968, and the original Clyenlish distillery was renamed as the Brora distillery. The new Clynelish distillery building was designed following the blueprint of the Caol Ila distillery on Islay.
