        Producer Information

Gnarly Head is a value-driven wine label that produces a range of wines from Californian fruit. The brand was created in 2004 and is best known for its production of Lodi Zinfandel from 35 to 80-year-old head-trained vines. The brand is owned by Delicato Family Vineyards. The majority of Gnarly Head's wine portfolio is California table wine, sourced from appellations such as Lodi, Monterey and the North Coast. These wines are made from a range of popular grape varieties, including Zinfandel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Malbec, Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Grigio. The label produces a number of red wine blends including the Authentic Red, Authentic Black, 1924 Double Black and Harvest Red. Grapes are typically harvested during the night to retain acidity, then destemmed and fermented in stainless steel tanks. Gnarly Head's signature wine, the Old Vine Zinfandel, is hand-harvested from the Kramer and Clay Station Vineyards in Lodi, then destemmed and gently pressed into stainless steel tanks to ferment for around a week. The wine goes through malolactic fermentation and is aged in French and American oak.
