This limited edition spirit was created in collaboration with Taza Chocolate of Somerville, MA. They started with an extra fiery batch of their chipotle pepper-infused vodka, which went into a used bourbon barrel. They then added Taza’s cocoa nibs and shells to the barrel and allowed the spirit to mature. The result is a spicy, rich spirit with layers of smoked chile pepper and dark chocolate. Fire Puncher Black is not sweet. Like a tightrope walker, it balances the naturally complex flavors of roasted chiles and cocoa beans as it deftly navigates the line between vodka and whiskey.

Nose: Delightful aroma.
Palate: First impressions are of roasted poblano and coffee, the palate is quickly awakened with a burst of spice from the chipotles.
Finish: A nutty, dark chocolate finish.
Distillery Information
GrandTen Distilling has been using locally-sourced ingredients to produce spirits (gin, rum, and more) in South Boston since 2012, and now, the team wants to convert its Saturday tasting bar into a legit cocktail bar. "We're building a space where people from all over Boston can come, kick back, and enjoy our spirits in good company," GrandTen writes on crowdfunding site Indiegogo.
