Old favourite Invergordon is back with some spectacularly old grain whisky. This 25-year-old single grain is the 22nd batch that joins That Boutique-y Whisky Ccompany's range and was distilled all the way back in 1991. A big, bold, and moreish Highlander this one! Batch 22 is a release of 340 bottles. That Boutique-y Whisky Company bottles limited edition whiskies from a variety of renowned distilleries as well as producing award-winning blends. These whiskies are adorned with cultish graphic novel-style labels.

Nose: Toasted brown bread, sweet Demerara fudge, digestive biscuits, woody spices, and hints of milk chocolate and candied citrus peel.

Palate: Sweet creamy coffee, salted caramel, vanilla custard, and woody spices.

Finish: The sweetened coffee notes fade to leave lingering toasted spice.

Distillery Information

Located in the Highland town of Invergordon, established by Invergordon Distillers Ltd. and operating since 1961 is the Invergordon grain distillery. It is one of only six dedicated grain distilleries in Scotland, and is famous for their Coffey stills, from which they produce some of the finest grain whisky in the world. The Navy withdrew from the town in 1956, leaving a peak of unemployment after which Invergordon was ready to welcome some industrial infrastructure. Oddly, it is based in a region associated with malt distilling, though the combination of easily accessible cereal crops and its port set it as an ideal site for a grain distillery. After a series of owners, Invergordon was absorbed into Whyte & Mackay in 1993, and the majority of liquid distilled goes into Whyte & Mackay blends. Invergordon has an absolutely staggering production capacity of 40,000,000 liters per year, though the whisky firm announced plans in December 2016 to modernise the 1970s distillery.
