At 850 metres above sea level, the distillery was the highest above sea levels in Japan; low temperatures and high humidity provided an ideal micro-climate for whisky production. This particular Karuizawa 1981 is “Snow Scene” release. It is a single cask whisky distilled in cask # 7427. It is presented in an original box, this is truly a collector’s item!

Nose: The aromas have alight fruit notes with malt and spice.
Palate: Smooth and soft with good sweetness and winter spice.
Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Karuizawa distillery was a Japanese whisky distillery. It was located at Miyota, a town on the southern slopes of an active complex volcano, Mount Asama, in Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1955, the distillery began production in 1956.
