Karuizawa, known for legendary whisky collections and its single-cask spirits, closed down its whisky production in 2011, but Karuizawa drams continue surfacing. We have an extensive Karuizawa whisky collection, and this mature Japanese single-cask whisky was distilled in 1970 in a bourbon barrel. Once located at the foot of Mount Asama, Karuizawa Distillery was owned by Mercian Corporation, a company established by Kirin. Nose: The aromas have alight fruit notes with malt and spice.

Palate: The taste almost is really just a short beginning that crescendos and transitions extremely smoothly into the finish.

Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Distillery Information

Karuizawa distillery was a Japanese whisky distillery. It was located at Miyota, a town on the southern slopes of an active complex volcano, Mount Asama, in Kitasaku District, Nagano Prefecture, Japan. Established in 1955, the distillery began production in 1956.
