Liqueur: Nardini Acqua di Cedro | 1L

A bottle of Acqua de Cedro liqueur from grappa producer Nardini, who can trace their history back to 1779. Made with cedro lemons, Nardini describe this as "the noble cousin to limoncello". Although similar in flavour profile, this is drier, in part due to the tart juice from the cedro lemons.

Detailed Description

Acqua di Cedro is a liqueur made with Cedro lemons and is not dissimilar to limoncello but with a crystalline appearance. Despite being made by Nardini who are famous for grappa, this liqueur is based on Italian grain neutral spirit and does not contain grappa. Named after Citron Medica, a lemon-like variety of citrus fruit which contains very little juice, Acqua di Cedro is flavoured by steeping the thick peel of the fruit in alcohol.

Distillery Information

The original Nardini Distillery was established in 1779 near the head of the bridge in Bassano del Grappa in the Veneto region. This location was chosen for its ample water supply which is essential for distilling and also its easy distribution through the series of rivers and canals. Over the years, the distillery has witnessed several battles, the collapse of the Venetian Empire, and the Unification of Italy. Yet through all this change, Nardini has remained a family business now boasting its 7th generation leading the business forward.
