Ruadh Maor 2010 (Peated Glenturret) Madeira Cask Finish Vol The Maltman Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML

A second distillate from a well-known distillery is this 12-year-old Ruadh Maor, distilled at Glenturret Distillery with heavily peated malt. An unusual Highland malt, which the maltmen gave a second maturation in a fresh Madeira barrel.

Nose: The nose has coastal aromas with some sweet peat smoke.

Palate: The palate is warming, some buttery notes, lemon zest with salted liquorice.

Finish: The finish has good length, smoke with some summer berries and a hint of plum jam coming through.

Distillery Information

The distillery was originally known as “Hosh” and was originally owned by the Drummond family. "Hosh" comes from the Gaelic "cois", meaning foot. It was taken over by John McCallum in 1845, until 1875 when Thomas Stewart took it over and renamed it Glenturret in its centenary year.
