However, the Scapa Glansa Whisky is not one of these. Launched as the distillery’s first peated offering, this double-aged whiskey fully embraces the iconic style of the Scottish Islands making it a great entry point for anyone looking to explore the region’s expressions. Made from 100% malted barley that have been dried with peat flames, the Scotch spends its initial maturation first-fill American oak casks. After this, the whisky is then transferred to used casks that previously held heavily-peated whiskies to complete its aging and give it its signature smoky character which is then tamed with pure water prior to being bottled.

Nose: Rich amber in color, each sip of this whisky yields a welcoming nose of pineapple, soft peach, heather, caramel, vanilla, and warm bonfire smoke.

Palate: A dry and earthy palate of more peaches, pear, honey, citrus zest, creamy caramel, toffee, vanilla, oak, and peaty smoke.

Finish: A light, long, and lingering finish of pleasing smokiness.

Scapa distillery is a Scotch whisky distillery on The Mainland of Orkney, Scotland on the shore of Scapa Flow near the town of Kirkwall. Scapa is the second most northern whisky distillery in Scotland, half a mile south of the Highland Park Distillery.
