Parker's Heritage Collection 2016 24 Year Old 10th Edition Kentucky Straight Malt Whiskey

Heaven Hill Distillery has announced the 2016 limited edition release of Parker’s Heritage Collection, a 24 year old, Bottled in Bond Bourbon. The uniqueness of this bottling lies not only in its age, but also in its Bottled-in-Bond designation. Bottled-in-Bond bourbons have experienced renewed interest by consumers because of the long and storied history behind such a designation dating way back to the Bottled in Bond Act of 1897. Heaven Hill, among its various lines, has a special extra affinity for the Parker’s Heritage Collection. This annual release, now in its tenth year, is named in honor of Parker Beam, the distillery’s Master Distiller Emeritus. He has suffered now from ALS for a number of years, so the Heritage offerings go towards raising money for research and patient care for this disease. The 2016 edition looks to be one which will likely go fast and raise good funds for this endeavor, as it is a 24-year-old, bottled-in-bond bourbon.

Nose: Caramel, vegetal oak, dark chocolate, a kick of cinnamon and a whisper of orange oil.

Palate: Dusty oak and leather furniture, Black Forest gâteau and a crack of pepper.

Finish: Creamy vanilla lasts for a long while afterwards.

Heaven Hill Distilleries, Inc., was founded in Bardstown, Kentucky by the Shapira family to produce and market Bourbon and premium American whiskeys. At the time, it was as speculative a new business venture as the dot com start-ups of the 1990's -- a company founded with no brands, no available stocks of whiskey, and at the height of the Great Depression. Today, the company is the largest independent, family-owned and operated producer and marketer of distilled spirits in the country. According to industry analysts, Heaven Hill is now the seventh largest spirits supplier in the United States and second largest holder of aging Bourbon whiskey in the world.
