Old Rip Van Winkle 7 Year Old Decanter 1975 / Bay Colony Bicentennial Bourbon Whiskey

This is an incredible piece of bourbon history. Following the forced sale of Stitzel-Weller distillery by the Van Winkle family in 1972, Julian II (son of the legendary 'Pappy') was granted an office and a license to continue procuring and bottling Stitzel-Weller stock on site, as a gesture of goodwill by new distillery owners, Somerset Imports. The decanter itself marks a celebration of the Bay Colony bicentennial in 1975, and was produced by Cumberland Porcelain. Bottled at 86 percent proof, it is believed the liquid inside may even have stemmed from Pappy's old stocks, We guess we'll never know for sure, but it makes for a great storyteller.

Distillery Information

A homage to the legendary Stitzel-Weller distillery, Blade and Bow Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey uses a unique Solera System aging process to preserve some of the distillery’s oldest whiskey stocks, including some of the last bourbon produced there before it closed in 1992.
