Producer Information
The history of the Bardet vineyards began in 1704 on the banks of the Garonne, in the parish of St-Brice de Vignonet, south of Saint-Emilion. A wine and grain merchant, Monsieur Seigneriau sailed the peaceful waters of the Garonne, Gironde and Dordogne rivers to load his gabare with barrels of wine, which he then sold in the merchant ports. In the 1920s, Mathilde Roy, Mr Seigneriau's granddaughter, married Henri-Gabriel Bardet, a wine broker and founder of Château Val d'Or in Saint-Emilion Grand Cru. With the help of their only son, Roger Bardet, they acquired new plots of land at the end of the 1960s, where Château Pontet-Fumet was established. Roger Bardet passed on his passion for the vine, his taste for work and his deep respect for the terroir to his son Philippe. In 2008, Philippe became the owner of Château Franc le Maine, still in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation. The Bardet family relies on experimentation and technological innovation to constantly improve the quality of its wines. The Bardet vineyards are located in the heart of the Saint-Emilion appellation, their châteaux in the Saint-Emilion Grand Cru appellation embody the heritage and unique know-how of the Bardet family. You can discover the banks of the Dordogne and the agroecological practices of the vineyard on foot and by electric bike. You will be guided by a web app that will tell you all its secrets in an original way that reflects the boldness of this family! "A subtle blend of environmental practices and technological innovations to reveal the richness of our terroirs.
