Producer Information
The Tarala family's involvement with wine dates back to the beginning of the last century. Nikolaos Taralas, grandfather of D. Taralas, who came from Eastern Romulia, has been involved in grapevine grafting, production and winemaking since the early 20th century. In 1925 Christos Taralas, father of D. Taralas, who settled in Ag. Barbara Imathia, utilizing his family's knowledge of the vineyard and wine, set up a business to produce, vinify and market the products of the vineyard in the city of Veria. Today, part of the equipment of the company is preserved, which included, among other things, wooden barrels with a capacity of 6.5 tons each and linen of 20 tons. 2006, the year of the restart and the step was taken by the family in 2006, his wife Aspasia and the twin children Christos and Nikoleta Tarala, with Christos, an educated agronomist, taking over important part of the whole effort. Retired banker Dimitris Taralas has always had a vineyard in his life. He cultivated 20 acres of privately owned land, in Patrida, Imathia, in the area of Fytia Roditi, while in Pylaia, Thessaloniki, where the family lived, in the garden of half hectare, there was a vineyard from Roditi and Pamidi but also other varieties, the family made wine but also made tsipouro. The decision of Christos Taralas to do agricultural studies as well as to utilize them, his father's empirical knowledge and love for the vineyard, played a catalytic role in establishment by the family, in 2006, of "Elinos SA" and in the construction, on her estate in Fitia, of the Tarala winery. At that time it was bought in Polla Nera, Imathia, shortly after Naoussa, an area of 9 hectares. With privately owned land of 11 hectares in total, winery and knowledge, the new phase of creative presence of the Tarala family in the world of Vine and Wines.
