      Reviews:

      • Wine Advocate: The 2014 Terra di Lavoro is a seamless and well-integrated wine (made with Aglianico and Piedirosso with the first vintage released in 1994) that always sets the bar high for Campania wines and the volcanic Roccamonfina subzone. This vintage is a little flatter than most, but this should come as no surprise given the challenges of the growing season. The pedigree of the winemaking is evident, nonetheless, with seamless integration and a wide array of dark fruit and toasted aromas that evoke the rugged personality of this unique Terra di Lavoro, or ‘land of labor.
      • James Suckling: Lots of blackberry, dark-chocolate and sweet-tobacco-leaf character on the nose. Fruit and plenty of licorice to boot. This continues to evolve in the class. Full body, round and velvety tannins and a juicy finish. More approachable than many vintages.

      Producer Information

Galardi is a winery located in Italy in northwestern Campania, established in 1991. It makes a single wine under the Roccamonfina IGT, Terra di Lavoro, from the native varieties Aglianico and Piedirosso. The estate is made up of around 10 hectares (25 acres) of hillside vineyards with volcanic soils. These vineyards are about 1300ft (400m) above sea level and are planted solely to Aglianico and Piedirosso. Yields at the estate are low – only a couple of thousand bottles of Terra di Lavoro are produced annually. Terra di Lavoro, meaning Land of Work, relates to the challenging cultivation of fruit from the estate's rocky soils. The wine is composed of 80 percent Aglianico and 20 percent Piedirosso and spends one year in new French oak before being bottled unfined and unfiltered.
