      Detailed Description

A delicate pale pink, it shows pleasant aromas of raspberry, plum and rose petals, followed by a notable freshness on the palate, layers of cherry and a hint of plum. Beautiful ending with extraordinary acidity.

        Producer Information

Bodegas Castaño is a Spainish wine producer located in the Yecla wine zone. It has long been associated with the Monastrell grape variety, and is often given credit for reviving the fortune of both Monastrell and the Yecla wine-producing reputation. The bodegas began in the early 1950s, when Ramón Castaño built a winery in the area. At the time, winemaking had been largely forgotten in Yecla following the spread of phylloxera, and Monastrell was used to make uninspiring bulk wines. During the 1980s, Castaño focused on producing high-quality bottled Monastrell wines, opening the door for other producers in the region to start using the grape. Today, the bodegas owns more than 400 hectares (990 acres) of land in Yecla, split between four estates. The poor-quality limestone based soils are ideal terroir for stressing the vines just enough to produce grapes with concentrated sugar and phenolics. Bodegas Castaño produces a large portfolio of wines, encompassing many different styles and price points. Varieties include, but are not limited to Garnacha, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay and Macabeo The brand was designed to be approachable with affordable, high-quality wines that are suited to a broad range of consumers.
