        Reviews:

        • Wine Advocate: The 2017 Nuits-Saint-Georges 1er Cru Clos de la Maréchale is a little more introverted after its recent bottling, unwinding in the glass with a reticent bouquet of red berries, raw cocoa, sweet soil tones and dried flowers. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, with good depth at the core and a more structured, introverted profile than the Chambolle that preceded it. The missing ingredient here is a little time.
        • Vinous: The 2017 Nuits Saint-Georges Clos de la Maréchale 1er Cru has a delightful bouquet of raspberry, crushed strawberry and rose petal aromas. The palate seems pliable in the mouth, featuring pure red fruit laced with brown spices and a saline finish that feels precise. Excellent.

        Producer Information

Domaine Jacques-Frédéric Mugnier is a Burgundian wine producer based in Chambolle-Musigny. It is particularly well-known for its Musigny Grand Cru wine which is regarded as a benchmark for that vineyard. While the estate is most closely associated with Pinot Noir wines from Chambolle-Musigny, it has 10 hectares (25 acres) of vineyards in Nuits-Saint-Georges as well. Vineyards are farmed without herbicides or pesticides and just two mildew treatments per year. Grapes are de-stemmed and whole berries are fermented in old open wooden vats. After around 16 months in oak, wines are bottled without fining and filtration.
