Detailed Description
Detailed Description
Deeply perfumed on the nose with delicious aromas of violets, wild rose, mulberry and cigar box. Both light and intense on the palate with fruit density, balance and opulence. Fine tannins float across the palate, revealing notes of plum, rose and chocolate.
Reviews:
- Kerin O’Keefe: This straightforward red offers aromas suggesting orange rind, baking spice and tobacco. It's already accessible, with flavors recalling sour cherry, star anise and a dollop of vanilla accompanied by round tannins.
- Vinous: Good full red. Spicy red berry and floral notes on the enticing nose. Then fresh and juicy, with vibrant, refined red cherry and sweetly spicy berry flavors. Finishes long and mineral.
Producer Information
Pinino is an Italian wine producer located in Tuscany near Montalcino. It produces different styles of Brunello di Montalcino and Rosso di Montalcino under the Pinino label as well as Cupio. The 16 hectare (40 acre) estate is located on the south facing slopes and is planted solely to Sangiovese. Here, the vines recieve all-day sunshine, which, when combined with the well-drained loamy soils, makes an excellent terroir for winegrowing. On average, the vines are 25 years old. The flagship wine from the estate portfolio in the Riserva Brunello di Montalcino. Sourced from the best Sangiovese vineyards within the company's holdings, it spends a grand total of 36 months aging in oak barrels prior to release. The estate was founded in 1874 by Tito Costanti and has been owned by Austrians Andre and Hannes Gamon and Spaniards Max and Silvia Hernandez since 2003.
