In a region where the tendency is to continually shy away from natural farming, this represents an extreme outlier. I’ve had the wines on rare occasions over the years, but my first real exposure was at the domaine this year when I got to taste one of the only verticals he’s ever poured. For the first time in my life I was really moved by a line up of Champagne, as a wine. All the base wines go through malo and are fermented with natural yeasts. They just have more weight and personality than my general perspective of Champagne and without the steroid effect of dosage.
