      • James Suckling: Lovely aromas of roses, red cherries, melted chocolate and redcurrants. Medium-bodied with silky tannins. A lot of freshness and energy here. Pretty is a good word. Bright red fruit and rose petals. From organically grown grapes.

      Matthiasson is a Californian wine producer, located in Napa Valley. It produces wines from a mixture of popular and locally uncommon varieties, ranging from Chardonnay, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, to the Italian grapes Ribolla Gialla and Refosco Dal Peduncula. Matthiasson sources its fruit from nine key vineyards mostly in the Oak Knoll District, Rutherford and Sonoma. It is best known for its white wines, especially a varietal Chardonnay and the signature Matthiasson White Blend; made from Sauvignon Blanc, Sémillon, Ribolla Gialla and Tocai Friulano. The Matthiasson range of red wine includes a varietal Cabenert Sauvignon from Napa Valley as well as a Cabernet Franc from the same vineyard. In 2015, Matthiasson added a sweet Vermouth to its catologue of wines, mostly made using the grape Flora as its base wine.
