Many Guadeloupe corsair ships had the city of Basse Terre as their home port. Their Captains and crews criss-crossed the Caribbean Sea to capture wealthy enemy ships. Legend says that these corsairs sailed on the fastest schooners in the Caribbean and that some wore black sails to better surprise their opponents.

Nose: Nose is marked by spicy notes: vanilla plus cinnamon.

Palate: Dried fruit, fig then toffee and dark chocolate.

Finish: Lingering finish that leaves a lasting impression.

Distillery Information

Founded in the early 19th century, this distillery is renowned for its high-quality agricultural rum. The tour begins with a presentation of the lively history of Basse-Terre, followed by the discovery of the traditional manufacturing process.
