Bruichladdich 14 Year Old 2009 Cask #1944 Middle Cut Dramfool Single Malt Scotch Whisky | 700ML Tasting Notes
Nose: "Opens on a brilliant combination of mellow oak, toasted barley and held in a halo of plump ripe Syrah grapes, leading onto the biscuity sweetness of toasted malt barley with a drift of vanilla."
Palate: "The texture & flavour is succulent & sweet. - The concentrated fruitiness is in harmony with the flavour of malt extract, the oak and a moderate maritime front note from its slumbers on the Coast of Heaven! The texture of the spirit is smooth & lingers long on the palate much to the delight of the taste buds."
Finish: "It’s a spirit that’s balanced, succulent and offers an insight as to how important it is to mature full term on the coast of Heaven - Islay!"
Distillery Information
"Bruichladdich was built by Barnett Harvey in 1881. Five years later, the Bruichladdich Distillery Company was founded and renovation and refurbishment commenced. The ‘Laddie’, as it is affectionately known, is often considered to be the fruitiest, most inventive Islay malt and, indeed, there has been some contention as to whether it has truly attained Islay-status. Bruichladdich countered this with the introduction of the Port Charlotte range and later with the 2008-released Octomore, the world’s most heavily peated whisky with a phenol content of 131ppm. Then the distillery went almost the complete opposite direction and created The Botanist Gin!"
