Nose: Honey, ripe pear, baked apple, dried orange peel, vanilla, wax, almonds, malt, floral notes, and polished oak.

Palate: Rich malt, honey, dried fruits, orange marmalade, vanilla, toasted almonds, caramel, gentle baking spices, waxy notes, and mature oak.

Finish: Long and refined, with lingering honey, dried citrus, wax, toasted nuts, vanilla, gentle spice, and polished oak.

Distillery Information

Glen Albyn Distillery was established in 1846 in Inverness, close to the Caledonian Canal, and became one of the city's historic whisky producers. The distillery had a varied history and, like many Highland malt producers, supplied much of its whisky to blending houses rather than developing a large single-malt following. Glen Albyn was eventually acquired by Distillers Company Limited and continued production into the twentieth century before finally closing in 1983. The buildings were later demolished, making surviving Glen Albyn bottlings increasingly sought after by collectors. Today, independent releases such as this First Cask expression provide a rare glimpse into the character of a distillery that has disappeared from Scotland's whisky landscape.
