Whiskey: Glenmorangie Finealta Private Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch
Glenmorangie Finealta is a painstaking recreation of a recipe dating back to 1903. Matured in a combination of American white oak casks and Spanish Oloroso sherry casks this whisky is unusual for its light touch of peatiness - a reminder of a time when Glenmorangie dried its barley in a peat fired kiln.

Detailed Description
Detailed Description
The second in Glenmorangie's series of Private Editions (the first being the hugely popular Sonnalta), Finealta has sparked interest in that some lightly peated barley has been used in its creation - supposedly inspired by an (ahem) recently-discovered 1903 order for Glenmorangie from the Savoy hotel. The name is Gaelic for 'Elegance', it says here, and Finealta has been matured in ex-sherry and plain new American oak casks.
Glenmorangie Finealta Private Edition Highland Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: A delicate and shy aroma initially yields salty / biscuity notes, intensifying with a short time in the glass as a sensual waft of lanolin-like peat emerges followed by suggestions of citrus peel.
Palate: The palate offers tangy, semi sweet malt and grain flavours and a mild pettiness.
Finish: Juicy finish.
Distillery Information
The Glenmorangie distillery was established in 1843, on the Dornoch Firth by brothers William and John Matheson. The site originally held a farm distillery under the name Morangie. There is evidence that distillation was carried out at this site during the early 18th century. Production began in November of 1849. During the latter part of the 19th century Glenmorangie began overseas exportation and destinations included Europe and the United States.
