Ever wonder about the people who make these special whiskies? This Laphroaig, released literally a few hours ago from the distillery, celebrates 44 loyal years of service from William Campbell, or Windy, as he is more locally known! From cask no.59, this was personally selected by distillery manager Barry MacAffer. Initially in a bourbon cask, this liquid was then transferred into a charred Virgin French Oak for it’s last 6 years maturation. Thoughtfully bottled on the 16th April 2023, this was Windy’s start date back in 1979, and he will be retiring from making Islay’s most richly flavoured whisky this summer!
