Detailed Description

Distilled in 2008 from the previous year's harvest of Optic barley, this 10-year-old from Bruichladdich's Octomore range is peated to a massive 167ppm. Limited to 12,000 bottles, this third limited edition 10-year-old from Octomore has been matured in a combination of first-fill port pipes and cognac casks, second-fill American whiskey casks, and virgin American oak casks.

Nose: Rich and chocolatey with tobacco and leather atop a vanilla custard note.

Palate: Warming spices, reminiscent of mulled wine, with more leather and tobacco and the all important Octomore peat smoke.

Finish: Oak and coconut balancing the peat smoke.

Bruichladdich Distillery is a distillery on the Rhinns of the isle of Islay in Scotland. The distillery produces mainly single malt Scotch whisky, but has also offered artisanal gin. It is owned by Rémy Cointreau and is one of eight working distilleries on the island.
