Deep, inky purple with a black core, lighter on the rim. The nose is full, aromas of boysenberry and blueberry intermixed with vanilla and spice. Full-bodied, ripe flavour of boysenberry, blueberry shows concentration and weight, enriched by creamy vanilla, cocoa and cloves. The tannin is smooth and ripe with a moderate grip, and balance acidity elevates the sweet scent of vanilla and spice. This generous Petite Sirah shows succulent boysenberry and blueberry fruit on a smooth-textured palate with sweet spices.

Producer Information

Bogle Vineyards is one of the largest wine producers in the USA. The first vines were planted by farmers Warren Bogle and his son Chris in 1968 as a side project. The first vines were planted on 20 acres (eight hectares) of land in Clarksburg, in California's Sacramento Delta. Initially selling the grapes to other wineries, Bogle Vineyards became a winery in its own right in 1979. Bogle is now one of the top 15 largest wineries in the US, producing over a million cases of wine a year. It is still family-owned and has found considerable success since the late 1990s, offering quality wines at reasonable prices. Bogle farms more than 1500 acres (600 hectares) of estate vineyards with the majority around Clarksburg and some in Lodi. In addition to this, fruit is brought in from growers all over California, including in El Dorado, Amador, Russian River Valley and Mendocino County, among others. Bogle's focus is on classic California grape varieties including Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Pinot Noir, Zinfandel and Petite Sirah. There are also a handful of blended wines, and a fortified dessert wine made in the style of Port.
