      Reviews:

      • Vinous: Puente Alto and Pirque come together in this textbook Maipo Cabernet Sauvignon with a twist: it was aged in casks to add elegance to the region’s familiar complexity. Licorice, cassis, blackberry and thyme flavors appear at first followed by caramel. Very precisely calibrated, the firm tannins and expressive flavor underline the accomplished nature of the wine and lengthy, juicy finish.
      • James Suckling: A cabernet that shows structure, yet at the same time it is savory and pure with currant, chocolate and walnut undertones. Juicy with lots of cassis, too. Full-bodied, chewy and savory. Dry. Delicious. Drink or hold.

      Producer Information

Marques de Casa Concha is a Chilean winery and premium brand of the largest South American producer and distributor, Concha y Toro. Casa Concha is known for single-vineyard, estate-bottled wines from different appellations throughout the country, the most prominent being a Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto. The brand was launched in 1976 by Concha y Toro, itself a historic winery founded in 1883 by the Marquis Melchor de Concha y Toro. The 1972 Cabernet Sauvignon from Puente Alto was the first wine released under the Marques de Casa Concha label and has continued to be the range's flagship. It has been received well by critics, especially vintages from the early 2000s onwards. In the late 1980s, new varieties were introduced to the range beginning with a Chardonnay and a Merlot. Marques de Casa Concha sources the grapes for each wine from different DOs with the stated goal of expressing the differences in the various Chilean viticultural regions.
