The Domaine Richaud is neither more nor less, one of the most internationally recognized domains of the south of the Rhône, almost in competition with the Chateaux-Neuf-du-Pape. This century-old family estate was taken over in 1974 by Marcel Richaud when he was only 17 years old. Stubborn by nature, almost against the tide, certain encounters like that of Marcel Lapierre would end up sealing his approach, which was so particular at the time. From the 80s, he began to make fruity natural wines with a lot of finesse and drinkability, 30-40 years ahead of the current fashion. At the antipodes of some local wines which can quiet routh, Marcel Richaud is one of the first to reverse the trend. This, with gentleness, respecting the terroir and keeping a racy side. Ditto for his approach in the vineyards and in the cellar, he does not follow the norm. In the middle of the 1980s, when chemicals and inputs flowed freely through the vines and winemaking vats, he, Marcel Richaud, a stubborn winemaker, decided to do things differently.
