      Detailed Description

This is the 2021 vintage Nebbiolo from the Albino Rocca winery, found in the Barbaresco region. It's made with a blend of predominantly nebbiolo grapes, with just a dash of cabernet franc in support to mellow things out a bit. Sure to be a dreamy pairing with lamb dishes.

      Producer Information

Albino Rocca is a wine producer based in Piedmont, in the northwest of Italy. The estate is particularly known for its Barbaresco wines based largely on the Nebbiolo grape variety, but Barbera, Dolcetto, Cortese, Chardonnay and Moscato also play their part. Giacomo Rocca first laid the foundations for the estate in the 1940s when he began making and selling wine from the family's vineyards in Barbaresco. His son Albino Rocca inherited his father's business in the 1960s, and began to expand the estate, purchasing vineyards in Neive (Barbaresco) and San Rocco Seno d'Elvio (Alba). Today, Albino Rocca produces four different single-vineyard Barbaresco wines from its Vigna Ronchi, Ovello Vigna Loreto and Vigna Montersino vineyards. The 3 hectare (7 acre) Ronchi vineyard is the estate's oldest, with some vines aged more than 70 years old. Here, vines are planted on southeast-facing limestone and clay slopes, and produce Albino Rocca's single Barbaresco riserva, as well as its single-vineyard Barbaresco Ronchi wine. The Ovello Vigna Loreto vineyard is one of the oldest and largest in Barbaresco, while the Vigna Montersino vineyard is one of the youngest, having been planted in 1998. Each has its own corresponding wine. Outside of its Barbaresco portfolio, Albino Rocca makes a range of wines from other DOC and DOCG appellations in the region, including Barbera d'Alba, Dolcetto d'Alba and Moscato d'Asti.
