One example of the latter is the BenRiach 12 Year Single Malt Scotch Whisky Single Cask 2005, a peated expression brimming with luscious fruit flavors that is simply irresistible whether it’s your first or fiftieth time tasting Scotch. Made from 100% malted Scottish barley dried over peat flames, the Scotch is distilled in traditional copper pot stills before being aged in first-fill Port wine casks for over a decade. The resulting Scotch is then bottled at cask strength and numbered by hand to create a whisky expression that is unique as far as the classic Speyside style is concerned.
BenRiach 12 Year Single Cask 2005 6B Single Malt Scotch Whisky Tasting Notes
Nose: Fresh fruits dominate the nose of gorgeous bronze-colored Scotch supported by notes of tobacco smoke, citrus, vanilla, and earthy barley.
Palate: This is immediately followed by a robust and velvety palate of fruit punch, orchard fruits, red berries, woody spice, and ashy peat.
Finish: A fairly long finish of earthy peat smoke, dried dark fruits, and black tea.
Distillery Information
The BenRiach distillery is a single malt Scotch whisky distillery in the Speyside area of Scotland. It is currently owned by Brown-Forman Corporation after being purchased on 1 June 2016 as a subsidiary from the BenRiach Distillery Company Limited, formed by two South African funding partners, Geoff Bell and Wayne Keiswetter, and Scotch whisky expert Billy Walker.
