A 2008 bottling of 1968 vintage from Glenlochy, part of Gordon & Macphail's Rare Old Series, mining their warehouses for interesting old casks that rarely see the light of day. Bottlings are increasingly rare, especially as the distillery closed in 1983 and was demolished in the 1990s, especially of casks this old.

Nose: Nose is complex yet not overwhelming.

Palate: The initial rush of peat and wood smoke is followed by a gentle sweetness with hints of spice.

Finish: Teasing, heathery, delicious.

Distillery Information

The Glenlochy distillery sits in Fort William, on the banks of the River Nevis and amongst the foothills of the mountain from whence the river falls. The whisky distillery was founded in 1898 by David McAndie as the Glenlochy-Fort William Distillery Company Ltd and the building was thoroughly modern.
