This is next annual Private Edition Glenmorangie release celebrates ten years of the Private Edition series. Glenmorangie Allta – Scots Gaelic for “wild” – is the tenth expression in the collection, and the very first whisky to be created from a bespoke strain of wild yeast growing on local barley.

Glenmorangie Allta Single Malt Scotch Whiskey Tasting Notes

Nose: Rounded, with biscuit tones, light, floral notes and scents of baking bread emerging alongside vanilla, raisins and mandarin orange.

Palate: A crisp, citrus texture brings tastes of butter candy, more creamy vanilla and orange syrup with a little yeast in the background. Then gentle mint and a suggestion of sweet chilli.

Finish: Long and earthy, with hints of bitter-sweet orange and peppermint.

Distillery Information

The Glenmorangie distillery was established in 1843, on the Dornoch Firth by brothers William and John Matheson. The site originally held a farm distillery under the name Morangie. There is evidence that distillation was carried out at this site during the early 18th century. Production began in November of 1849. During the latter part of the 19th century Glenmorangie began overseas exportation and destinations included Europe and the United States.
