Ron Barcelo 30th Aniversario Imperial Premium Blend Rum

This is best displayed through their Ron Barcelo 30th Aniversario Imperial Rum – a limited edition release commemorating the 30-year anniversary of their Imperial line. The rum begins with a selection rums that were initially aged for 10 years in ex-bourbon American oak casks. These rums are then carefully blended under the careful supervision of Miguel Barceló before being re-casked and aged for another 2 years in used wine casks from the prestigious Bordeaux house of Château d’Yquem. The result is a rich, sweet, and complex rum that is released in very limited quantities each year.

Ron Barcelo 30th Aniversario Imperial Premium Blend Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Dark brown and garnet hues, each sip of this rum greets you with a generous helping of caramel and coffee supported by notes of raisins, toffee, creamy vanilla, oak, orange peel, nutmeg, and faint hints of tobacco.

Palate: This is immediately followed by scrumptious and multi-layered palate of even more caramel and toffee, creamy mocha, dark chocolate, roasted almonds, sweet black cherry, cola, dried citrus peels, more nutmeg, and a dash of black pepper spice.

Finish: A long, lingering finish of oak and firm tannins.

Established in 1930 in the Dominican Republic, Ron Barcelo has been making exceptional rum expressions for nearly a century ranging from everyday sippers to rare special bottlings. It is with the latter, however, that the brand has made waves in the rum scene showing that this relatively unknown brand is capable of crafting some of the finest flavors imaginable through their use of special-selected barrels.
