Wakatsuru Shozou Distillery is one of the longest established, but not well known, Japanese distilleries. Wakatsuru Distillery obtained a license to distill whisky in 1953 and has been producing a small amount of whisky on and off since this time. This particular whisky is the oldest Japanese Whisky ever released. It was distilled in 1960, aged in an ex-red wine cask and was bottled 55 year later. Only 155 bottles were released. Comes with original wooden box, a good old whisky indeed!

Nose: The aromas have alight fruit notes with malt and spice.
Palate: Smooth and soft with good sweetness and winter spice.
Finish: Finish is long, spicy and smooth.

Wakatsuru is located in the Toyama Prefecture in the Chubu Region. Even though Whisky production only became possible in 1953, Wakatsuru Shozu Distillery started its Whisky production in 1862.
