Detailed Description

Samaroli Demerara Dark Rum Guyana 1988 is an exceptionally rare single-cask Demerara rum distilled from molasses in Guyana in 1988. Selected by legendary independent bottler Samaroli, the spirit was matured for an extraordinary 33 years before being bottled in Scotland in 2021.

The extended maturation in Scotland’s cooler climate allowed the rum to develop slowly over the decades, building remarkable aromatic depth and complexity while preserving the distinctive character of Guyanese Demerara rum. Samaroli selected Cask No. 1 for this special release, producing just 195 individually numbered bottles at 50% ABV.

Samaroli Demerara 1988 Dark Rum Guyana Rum Tasting Notes

Nose: Deep and complex, with aromas of vanilla and sugar cane complemented by mature, earthy notes of leather and tobacco.

Palate: Rich and layered, revealing vanilla, sugar cane, leather and tobacco that gradually develop and complement one another in the glass. The extraordinary 33-year maturation gives the rum remarkable depth and aromatic concentration.

Finish: Long, mature and complex, with lingering notes of tobacco, leather, vanilla and the distinctive character of aged Demerara rum.
