Deep red. Alluring aromas of mulberry and blackberry are highlighted with bright floral notes. The medium to full bodied palate is filled with luscious ripe summer berries and defined by satiny tannins, fresh acidity and subtle savory oak.

Producer Information

Shingleback Wine is a South Australian winery in the McLaren Vale wine region. It primarily produces varietal Shiraz, but cultivates and vinifies numerous other varieties including Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Sémillon. The label was established with the planting of the 121 hectare (300-acre) Davey Estate Vineyard in 1995 with the inaugural vintage released in 1998, a Shiraz. Here, a mediterranean climate is moderated by the proximity to the coast, with the Indian ocean providing cooling afternoon breezes. Today, Shiraz makes up three quarters of the vineyard. This variety is especially prominent in the McLaren Vale, due to the region's terroir, including a high number of growing days and low rainfall during the summer. Therefore, the Shingleback wine portfolio features numerous Shiraz wines including single-vineyard selections and a vintage fortified produced from the variety. The collection also includes a "Black Bubbles" offering of the iconic Australian-style of sparkling Shiraz. Shingleback was founded by brothers Kym and John Davey in the 1990s on farmland that had been owned by their family since 1957. The brand takes its name from the common name of the blue-tongued skink, a lizard native to Australia. This skink appears stylized on many of Shingleback's wines.
