Spoken Barrel | 42 Meritage Red Blend - NV

Black garnet in color, this Meritage features bright, fresh fruit aromas of blueberry and red plum with dark notes of leather, black licorice, and deep roasted oak. A dense and rich mouthfeel is accented by flavors of bright red fruits, toasty oak, smoke, chocolate, and citrus rind. The ample tannins are supple and carry the flavors through a long finish.

Established in 2018, Spoken Barrel Winery dedicates itself to producing wines made from the best grapes that Washington State has to offer. Spoken Barrel wines offer complex, bold flavors that are born from the unique soil, climate, and rugged growing conditions of the Colombia Valley – located in the heart of Washington. Spoken Barrel’s winemaker, Maurine Johnson, has spent 30 years developing her craft. A native of Idaho, she focused her career in the Pacific Northwest growing region, where the terrific climate and dynamic landscapes produce rich, expressive, and flavorful grapes. “I think the Pacific Northwest is a great place to grow and make wine. I don’t want to be anywhere else,” says Maurine. Ready for a new challenge, in 2016 Maurine joined the Spoken Barrel team and was involved in the early stages of the winery’s creation, while working to produce wine showcasing the quality of grapes that Washington state is known for. Since then, Maurine continues to focus on one, simple philosophy: “It’s all about the fruit.” Spoken Barrel embraces its position as a premium Washington winery.
