      • Wine Spectator: A ferocious, grand red Burgundy, made in a modern, muscular, bold, rich and concentrated style. Inky black in color, extraordinarily deep in aromas, showing a mineral, wet earth and terroir character that fights its way through the tannic, powerful Cabernet-like structure.
      • Wine Advocate: The color is black. After coaxing, the nose reveals scents of black-cherries, minerals, and truffles. In the mouth, the wine is nearly too extracted.

      Producer Information

Maison Ambroise is a Burgundy wine estate at Premeaux-Prissey, a small village near Nuits-Saint-George. It produces a range of wines from Pinot Noir and Chardonnay (plus a Bourgogne Aligoté) from both the Côte de Nuits and Côte de Beaune. The family farms around 21 hectares (51 acres) of vineyards. A large portion of these are in Nuits-Saint-Georges, including three premier cru plots: Les Vaucrains, En Rue de Chaux and Clos des Argillières. Ambroise also makes a standard and a Vieilles Vignes village wine from the commune. At grand cru level, the estate makes a highly rated Corton Le Rognet from vines spread across various altitudes within the Grand Cru. The Chardonnay lineup is led by a Corton Charlemagne, a Meursault Premier Cru Les Poruzots, and a rare Nuits-Saint-Georges Premier Cru from the Les Terres Blanches vineyard. In both colors, there are other more affordable options down to Bourgogne level.
