      • Wine Magazine: Opulent oak spice; impressive : present, dense tannin, which despite the volume is polished, long finish on black berries. Atypical for the vintage.
      • Falstaff: Deep dark ruby garnet, black core, violet reflections, very restrained, tobacco nuances, a hint of blackberries, mineral. Medium-bodied, red berry fruit, fresh acidity, well-integrated tannins, subtle extract sweetness on the finish, needs time.

      Producer Information

Clos Dubreuil is a wine estate based in the Saint-Émilion region of Bordeaux, located 3.5km (2.1 miles) east of Saint-Émilion town on the so-called Saint-Émilion plateau – a generally well-regarded vineyard location. Located in the commune of Saint-Christophe des Bardes, it was named a Grand Cru Classé in the 2022 classification of Saint-Émilion. The estate covers 8.5 hectares (21 acres) and is planted to 70 percent Merlot, 25 percent Cabernet Franc and five percent Cabernet Sauvignon – quantities roughly encountered in the property's titular wine, or "grand vin". The wines are hand-harvested, fermented in stainless steel and oak and aged in 100-percent new French oak barrels. Around 20,000 bottles of the grand vin are produced annually and a second wine, Anna de Clos Dubreuil, is also produced at the property. A third wine, a Vin de France Chardonnay known as Dubreuil Chardonnay is also produced The Clos Dubreuil estate neighbors fellow 2022 classification promotee, Château Croix de Labrie (which lies to the northeast), other well-regarded neighbors include Château Laroque (to the southeast) and Château Tour Saint-Christophe (to the southwest). The estate owes its prominence to owner Benoît Trocard, who intially worked as a winemaker in Australia's Yarra Valley, establishing Clos Dubreuil in 2002 and progressively expanding the estate holdings and investing in the winery.
