BlackMask rums consider themselves to taste "of the warrior spirit" and emphasize this fact with a stylized, Polynesian warrior wearing a fearsome black mask. The marketing claims the rum stems from "elixirs concocted by a mysterious medicine man." The federal Tax and Trade Bureau disagrees noting a producer in Thailand and owned by the International Beverage company of Thailand.
