Producer Information
Chateau Branon is a a famous old property establised in the established in the 18th century and is located in the heart of Leognan between Chateau Haut Bailly and Chateau Malartic Lagraviere. Chateau Branon had fallen into disrepair until Sylviane Garcin-Cathiards acquired it in 1996. Vignobles Garcin also own three other famous Chateaux in Bordeaux – Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol, Chateau Barde-Haut in St Emilon and Chateau Haut Bergey also in Pessac Leognan. For more than 15 years, the Garcin family has focused its efforts on creating a rare and precise wine and have invested in both the vineyards and winery. The 6 hectare estate is planted with 1.5 hectares of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot and Malbec. They produce an average of 4000 bottles per vintage. The soils here are clay and limestone and the Chateau practices sustainable agriculture. Grapes are hand-harvested with sorting in the vineyard and at the winery. The wine is fermented in thermo-regulated wooden vats and is then aged in 100% new French oak barrels for 18 months prior to release. Vignobles Garcin also own three other famous Chateaux in Bordeaux – Clos L’Eglise in Pomerol, Chateau Barde-Haut in St Emilon and Chateau Haut Bergey also in Pessac Leognan.
