Deep dark ruby garnet, violet reflections, delicate edge brightening. Fine dark berry fruit, pleasant blackberry confit, nuances of raspberry pulp, very attractive bouquet. Complex, structured with finesse, present tannins, red berry finish, salty-mineral touch in the aftertaste, good length.
Producer Information
Porseleinberg is a South African wine producer, located in the Porseleinberg mountain range of the Swartland wine region. It was founded by Marc Kent, winemaker of the historic Boekenhoutskloof wine estate. Porseleinberg was founded in 2009 upon the purchase of a 70 hectare (173 acre) vineyard. Kent promptly replanted the estate to Syrah and Grenache with the assistance of viticulturist Callie Louw. A sole varietal Syrah wine is produced by the company, sourced from the best plots of the estate vineyard. After a hand-pick, the grapes are placed into concrete fermentation tanks. Ferments are kept cool with the grape skins submerged in the fermenting juice throughout the entire process. After fermentation, the wine is aged for 12 months in both foundre oak casks and concrete eggs. It will happily cellar for a decade.
